WELCOME TO THE 2022 ENGLISH OPEN!

We are so excited to be able to host the English Open in 2022 following the last couple of years, and we hope you are excited to come along and play!

We are delighted to be hosting this year's English Open at the fantastic David Lloyd Tennis Centre in Southampton, where we will have up to 20 courts on a hard acrylic surface.

This year we have partnered with the APP Tour in order to bring over some of the best players in the world to England for our event.

We have a Prize Fund of £1,300 for 19+ OPEN Men's & Women's Doubles and 19+ OPEN Mixed Doubles.

Tournament Schedule and Events

We are running events from Wednesday 29th June through to Sunday 3rd July. Please see the schedule below for which events are running on which days.

 * Instructions on how to participate in these events will be shared closer to the event.

  • All events will be a morning round robin followed by single elimination knockout in the afternoon.
  • All players are guaranteed a minimum of 4 games per event they enter.
  • The tournament director reserves the right to combine categories if there are an insufficient number of entries (less than 5).
  • There are limited places available in each category and players are only able to enter one skill/age category per event, i.e. cannot play 60+ Men's Doubles on Wednesday and 50+ Men's Doubles on Saturday.
  • After 3 weeks of registration being open we will evaluate number of registrations in each category.
  • We may adjust the number of registrations for brackets with the highest demand.

Venue Location

David Lloyd Southampton, Brownhill Way, Frogmore Lane, Southampton, SO16 9PA

PickleballEngland has secured the exclusive use of the David Lloyd Tennis Centre* in Southampton, which features a bar and cafe, lounge with seats for viewing, changing and bathroom         facilities, a viewing gantry and 7 acrylic tennis courts.

* There are 2 parts to the Tennis Centre. We have exclusive use of the non members, public access side.

How to get there?

Plane - you are able to fly into Southampton Airport from domestic and international locations, and this is around 15 minutes from the venue and city centre. There are also options from      London Heathrow and London Gatwick. London Heathrow is an hour drive or 2 hour train journey into Southampton, whilst London Gatwick is a 2 hour train journey or 90 minute drive into Southampton.

Train - Southampton Central is accessible from most major cities in the UK by train, and arrives right into the city centre, a 10 minute drive from the venue.

Car - The venue is located just off the M271, accessed via the M27.

 

Accommodation

For this event we have not negotiated a special event rate with a specific hotel. Instead, we are announcing a new partnership with Ultimate Travel Club, which will provide an opportunity for you to save money when travelling for ALL pickleball events! You can find out more information via our website https://www.pickleballengland.org

 

Covid-19

Although we appreciate that COVID-19 is still around, we will not be enforcing any vaccination or testing criteria in order to enter the English Open 2022. This is subject to change in                accordance with any legislation or guidance that is implemented in between now and the event. Those travelling into the UK should consult the entry requirements.

Tournament T&Cs

By signing the electronic signature on the registration form, you agree to the following:

  • Cancellation and refund requests must be made by 11:59pm BST on 30th May 2022.
  • Registration fees (£35) are non-refundable but event fees (£20) will be refunded up to the date of registration closing.
  • Tournament director has the discretion to combine categories in the event of too few entries and also to move players between categories, and their decision is final.
  • Agree to follow any Covid-19 related requirements
  • Promise to follow pickleballEngland code of conduct and uphold pickleballEngland values.
