COVID-19 situation in many countries throughout Asia is recovering at a slower pace than expected. Many countries have imposed stricter quarantine rules for travelers returning to their home countries.
Based on this recent development, the APO organizers decided to postpone the tournament from 5 – 9 January to 13-17 April 2022 (Wed – Sun, 5 days)
We apologize for the inconvenience caused and hope that the new tournament date allows the respective government to establish a VTL (Vaccinated Travel Lane) protocol or any other safe travel measures to facilitate more participants to take part in the first-ever Asia Pickleball Open.
Phuket, Thailand remains open for travelers who are Vaccinated with PCR tested negative results. (https://www.thaiembassy.com/travel-to-thailand/no-quarantine-phuket-sandbox-plan) and we are committed to implement and adhere to Covid-19 Safe Measurement during the APO event.
Covid-19 is endemic as some countries are classifying it. Most governments in Asia need to bring life back to the new norm (living under Covid) as they may be unable to sustain the economy using its reserves. They will need to start business trading and opening up their borders, including tourism. We will have a clearer picture of government strategies in the next month or two.
Covid, over time, will become a way of life, like dengue and influenza. All of us have a high chance of getting it. Hopefully, with full vaccination, together with our body's own immune system, and common sense, we will ride this out. Be cautious of this virus, but don't fear it, and don't let it cast a dark shroud over our daily lives. Life is to live, not merely to exist!

The novel coronavirus ("COVID-19") has been declared a worldwide pandemic by the World Health Organization. COVID-19 is extremely contagious and is believed to spread mainly from person-to-person contact. The organiser of Asia Pickleball Open 2022 (known as APO) follows Thailand government Covid-19 prevention guidelines and is putting in place safe measurements to reduce the spread of COVID-19; however, cannot guarantee that you will not become infected with COVID-19.
I/Me/We/Us, by participating in this APO and/or present on-site, I acknowledge the contagious nature of COVID-19 and voluntarily assume the risk that may be exposed to or infected by COVID-19 and that such exposure or infection may result in personal injury, illness, permanent disability, and death. I understand that the risk of becoming exposed to or infected by COVID-19 at the APO may result from the actions, omissions, or negligence of myself and others, including, but not limited to, APO committee members, employees, volunteers, participants and their families. I voluntarily agree to assume all of the foregoing risks and accept sole responsibility for any injury to myself (including, but not limited to, personal injury, disability, and death), illness, damage, loss, claim, liability, or expense, of any kind, that I may experience or incur in connection with my attendance at the APO or claims. I hereby release, covenant not to sue, discharge, and hold harmless the APO committee, its employees, agents, and representatives, of and from the claims, including all liabilities, claims, actions, damages, costs or expenses of any kind arising out of or relating thereto. I understand and agree that this release includes any claims based on the actions, omissions, or negligence of the APO committee, its employees, agents, and representatives, whether a COVID-19 infection occurs before, during, or after attending this APO activity.
WAIVER/RELEASE FOR COMMUNICABLE DISEASES INCLUDING COVID-19
ASSUMPTION OF RISK / WAIVER OF LIABILITY / INDEMNIFICATION AGREEMENT
In consideration of being allowed to participate in this tournament, by completing my registration, I acknowledge, appreciate, and agree that:
1. Participation includes possible exposure to and illness from infectious diseases including but not limited to MRSA, influenza, and COVID-19. While particular rules and personal discipline may reduce this risk, the risk of serious illness and death does exist; and,
2. I KNOWINGLY AND FREELY ASSUME ALL SUCH RISKS, both known and unknown, EVEN IF ARISING FROM THE NEGLIGENCE OF THE RELEASEES or others, and assume full responsibility for my participation; and,
3. I willingly agree to comply with the stated and customary terms and conditions for participation as regards protection against infectious diseases. If, however, I observe any unusual or significant hazard during my presence or participation, I will remove myself from participation and bring such to the attention of the nearest official immediately; and,
4. I, for myself and on behalf of my heirs, assigns, personal representatives and next of kin, HEREBY RELEASE AND HOLD HARMLESS SS Pickleball llc their officers, officials, agents, and/or employees, other participants, sponsoring agencies, sponsors, advertisers, and if applicable, owners and lessors of premises used to conduct the event ("RELEASEES"), WITH RESPECT TO ANY AND ALL ILLNESS, DISABILITY, DEATH, or loss or damage to person or property, WHETHER ARISING FROM THE NEGLIGENCE OF RELEASEES OR OTHERWISE, to the fullest extent permitted by law.
