ANNOUNCEMENT – EUROPEAN PICKLEBALL OPEN

New Date

July 06 – 10th, 2022 (Wednesday – Sunday) | 5 Days

Registration closes: June 18th, 2022

COVID-19 situation in many countries throughout Europe seems to be recovering at a slower pace than expected.

Many countries still did not fully remove quarantine rules and restrictions for organizing of the events and also for the travelers

              returning to their home countries.

Based on this situation, we would like to announce two important changes.

              Date Change

Based on the recent development, the EPO organizers decided to postpone the tournament from May 11-15, 2022 to July 06 –

              10th, 2022 (Wed – Sun, 5 days).

              Location Change

Based on the Covid indoor restrictions in Czechia, we have decided to change EPO into an outdoor event, and as such we have

moved the tournament from Prague, Chechia to Rota, Spain.

We apologize for the inconvenience caused by this change, but we hope that the new tournament date and location will offer

better conditions and safer environment, so that more participants will be able to take part in the first-ever European

              Pickleball Open.

The first-ever EUROPEAN OPEN PICKLEBALL CHAMPIONSHIP

sanctioned by:

 European Pickleball Federation (EPF)

World Pickleball Federation (WPF)

1. What is EUROPEAN OPEN PICKLEBALL CHAMPIONSHIP?

It is one stop of several premier pickleball tournaments globally that unite pickleball players presented by Pickleball Global using GPR (Global Pickleball Rankings),

to compare and ultimately reward the best players in the world with the WORLD PICKLEBALL CHAMPION title at end of the year.

EUROPEAN OPEN Pickleball Championship is a $15,000-dollar Pickleball Tournament.

The EUROPEAN OPEN Pickleball Championship includes 19+, 50+, 60+, OPEN, Advanced and Intermediate divisions over the course of the 4-day Championship.

2. How does the GPR (Global Pickleball Rankings) work?

- it is based on the best 15 results in the prior 52 weeks

- players earn points for all games won

- the number of points is determined by the skill level and the tier of the competition

- the points are the same for all the age groups

- players can view their ranking at global level, continental level, and country-level according to their age groups

- players can play at different levels - either with younger players or in higher skill levels (the higher the level the more points)

- every player has a HAR (Home Age Ranking) where all the points accumulated by the player over the last 52 weeks are being posted, regardless of the ranking points

have been acquired by playing in the player’s home age event or by competing with the younger players

3. REGISTRATION DEADLINES

The deadline to REGISTER is June 30, 2022.

4. WITHDRAWAL DEADLINES

We understand that there are different rules around travel and quarantine across Europe and it makes it difficult to plan ahead as far as September right now.

It is also hard for us to be able to plan the tournament but want to be able to provide an opportunity for as many European players to get together to play after so many events have been

canceled over the past 18 months.

So, we have decided that we will open up registration for this tournament with the hope that as many people will register as possible. If nearer the date your country

does not allow you to travel outside your country or requires quarantine on the way back, we will process your cancellation and refund your registration fees

if you cancel more than 15 days before the start of the first day of the tournament.

5. WHO CAN PLAY AT THIS EVENT?

EUROPEAN OPEN Pickleball Championship is open to all players from around the world.

You do not need to be a citizen or a resident in any of the European countries
